Welcome to my New Website
Campaign to Axe the the Tax at the Dartford Tolls.
My latest campaign was organising the north Kent and south east London Conservative MPs and Essex PPCs against the stealth tax increase on the Dartford Tolls. This is a blatant attempt to raise more money for Gordon Brown's Treasury black hole after it was promised that the tax would be axed. Added to this the open bribe to the Labour marginal seats of Thurrock and Dartford to offer a post code lottery discount to the residents in those boroughs but the people are not fooled.
I currently own the proud title of "Kent's Swampy", as named by the police when their alert system noted that "activists" would be descending on Darford's bridge to demonstrate against the toll charge increases. However, I am happy to report that once Kent police realised that Swampy was me they were happy to call off the riot squad - hardly a threat to civil obedience in Kent! And we demonstrated in the quite tranquility of a hotel car park (those of you who cannot remember Swampy - he was the guy who moved into a tree to protest against a Wiltshire by-pass)

We raised the issue, the media were onboard, the MPs, Boris Johnson, Freight Trade Association, the AA and Kent County Council but as usual, Gordon Brown is not listening to UK plc.

Women and the Vote 2008. I organised and chaired a debate at the Spring conference in Gateshead with MEP Edward McMillan-Scott, Caroline Spelman, chairman of the party and Anne-Marie Trevelyan, PPC for Berwick-upon-Tweed. This is the 90th year of women's suffrage and some say women's suffrage began in the Garden of Eden, however, I believe we still have dinosaurs roaming the earth!

Speaking at the CAER with Caroline Spelman. |

We discussed how far women had come in the party and, if nothing had changed - ie David Cameron had not made the present changes to more women's representation - it would have taken 400 years to get equality in the House of Commons. However, if we win our target seats at the next election then David Cameron will have achieved over one third women and ethnic minority candidates being elected.
Edward also called for the next 'Mandy' (EU Trade Commissioner) to be replaced with a woman. When Peter Mandelson vacates this position Gordon Brown should recognise that the UK has no female representation at Commissioner level in Brussels.

Why Westminster and Europe?
Because I want to serve my Party and my country against the excesses of Europe and I will do that as my priority whether in Westminster or the European Parliament.
Other areas of interest that straddle both Parliaments: Immigration, agriculture and trade – because of Europe, we have lost control of these areas of national importance and I promise to work hard to get them back.
Janice with Kent Fire & Rescue - they say 'NO' to regionalisation

- No to EU Constitution
- No to legalisation of drugs
- No to more over 65's dying from superbugs
- No to Post Office closures
- Yes to closing our porous borders
- Yes to supporting our rural economy
- Yes for more police on our street
- Yes for higher standards in schools
- Yes for greater skills training for a competitive economy
Michael Howard on Janice:
"Janice was a very effective regional press officer during the time that I was Leader of the Conservative Party and I am convinced she would make an excellent Parliamentary Candidate and, in due course, Member of Parliament"
