Gordon Brown's NHS Cuts

It is right that the government sets budgets within the health service. It is not right that they temporarily close departments and stop treatment because of budget deficits but still pay the staff to twiddle their thumbs in order to save a few pounds on dressings, x-rays and drugs. We are losing qualified staff that have been trained by the NHS with taxpayers money.

MRSA continues to destroy lives. Why? Because hospitals are not willing to close wards that are infected to allow for thorough cleansing because they will not hit government targets.

Sexual health clinics are restricting access whilst the NHS website actively promotes having sex. Money wasted by advertising copy-writers on the NHS website is wrong, there are plenty of websites around advocating sex without the NHS funding one and failing to provide adequate services in sexual health when people do become more promiscuous.

NHS charges – including prescriptions, eye test fees, hospital parking fees, and dental care levies – are a mess and should be reviewed.

Prescription charging should be revamped, parking should be free for those having daily treatment in hospital, while people attending non-emergency care and who miss GP appointments should be charged a fee.
